The Reactor Physics Design Division (RPDD) caters to the reactor physics work for the various ongoing as well as forthcoming reactor systems of the Indian nuclear energy programme. The reactor physicists at RPDD function in various capacities as theoreticians to design reactors, follow operation of the existing research and power reactors, perform experiments to understand the physics of reactors and at the same time look for innovative ideas for development of various reactor physics codes to realize the goals of our nuclear energy program. The research is carried out in fields, which cover the whole gamut of physics of reactors from fundamentals of nuclear data, lattice physics, reactor core analysis, reactor kinetics, reactor operation, reactor fuel management, reactor safety analysis and advanced reactor design studies.
RPDD serves as the nodal center and a one stop solution to all the activities related to Reactor Physics Design work in BARC
