Performance Related Incentive System (PRIS)
To reward the performance of an organisation within DAE and the role of the personnel in realising its objectives, PRIS has been introduced at BARC.
Performance Related Incentive System (PRIS) is a variable component of the pay, which is awarded on the basis of performance of individual/group/organisation measured against set goals, during a given period of assessment.
PRIS comprises of the following components:
Organisational Incentive
Organisational Incentive, based on achievement of set mission goals and review of overall performance of the organization, is given once in five years, by the Atomic Energy Commission.
Group Incentive
Group incentive is awarded to specific groups on an annual basis, based on their achieving set targets in high-end R&D areas or innovative technologies or programme goals during a particular year.
Individual Incentive
Grant of variable additional increments to deserving scientific and technical personnel at the time of promotion, in recognition of their individual meritorious performance. Individual achievements are considered and assessed by a Departmental Promotional Committees (DPC) at the time of review for merit promotions.

Homi Bhabha Awards
Homi Bhabha Awards are given to meritorious and successful candidates from BARC Training School, who stands first in their respective disciplines, during the training programme. This award is given to them on their Graduation Day every year.

DAE (Excellence in Science, Engineering & Technology) Awards Scheme

In recognition of their original contributions in research/ design/ operation/ innovation/ project work & application, the following awards in Science, Engineering and Technology are given to Scientists and Engineers of DAE, every year. These awards are announced on the Founder’s Day; i.e. the birthday of Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha, which falls on the 30th of October.
The Department of Atomic Energy has instituted the Excellence in Science, Engineering & Technology (ESET) Awards Scheme to recognize outstanding accomplishments and exceptional achievements of the DAE staff, who are engaged in scientific research, technology development, engineering/project implementation, teaching, health care, and supporting services. These annual awards will also serve as career attractions for the scientific and technical and other service personnel. The Awards Scheme consists of:

6 Young Engineer Award (YEA) Less than 35 years A memento, citation and award amount of Rs.50,000/- each
7 Young Applied Scientist / Technologist Award (YASTA) Less than 35 years A memento, citation and award amount of Rs.50,000/- each
8 Special Contributions Award (SCA) None A memento, citation and award amount of upto a maximum of Rs.50,000/- each
9 Meritorious Technical Support Award (MTSA) None A memento, citation and award amount of Rs.20,000/- each
10 Group Achievement Award (GAA)
  1. Completion of large projects which constitute important milestones for DAE programme
  2. High impact projects done by medium and small sized teams.
None Award amount to commensurate with the group size and the overall achievement.
