Radiation Technology Development Division, Radiochemistry & Isotope Group, BARC has a mandate to develop new applications of Radiation Technology in the area of healthcare, environment, and industry, by developing in-house R&D capabilities as well as pursuing joint R&D work with leading institutes and industries. R&D activities in RTDD have been directed towards the development of novel radiation processed materials such as advanced sensors, piezoresistors, chemiresistors, radiation shields, advanced oxidation processes, conducting polymers, radiation dosimeters, functional adsorbents, and establishing radiation hygienized sludge as a safe and useful agriculture input. The division is equipped with the state of the art infrastructure in the area of polymer processing, radiation processing, and environmental remediation.
